Dewitt Gimblet

Dewitt Gimblet

Since Dewitt joined our dog handling team in 2006, he has shown great skill, leadership and dependability in all he does.

Dewitt is a faithful worker with the dogs, has served as an instructor in our volunteer training classes as well as individually trains and mentors new volunteers. Our team can always count on Dewitt during his shifts at the shelter, on weekdays, weekends, and beyond! In a female dominated volunteer program, Dewitt represents the growing number of dedicated male volunteers at our Shelter. He also serves as a Volunteer Foster Parent for some of special needs dogs and helped to behaviorally rehabilitate both foster and shelter dogs helping to make them more adoptable. Dewitt adopted his own beloved Ollie and Ms. Fluff from the Austin Humane Society! In addition, Dewitt contributes to off-site events and is always willing to step up to lend a hand. We don’t always know where he finds the time to do all he does for us, but we can’t thank him enough!

365 days a year, volunteers from all over the Austin area and beyond come to AHS to play with puppies, walk dogs, keep the company of cats and kittens, help our clinic staff, work with potential adopters and attend special events in the community! In one year, our volunteer hours equal that of 22 full time employees! We cannot thank our volunteers enough for all the time and compassion they give to the animals.

Volunteers make the AHS world go around. Do you have pictures of AHS volunteers doing what they love best? Please submit to: marketing@austinhumanesociety.org Thanks!
